4/7 Rafael Nadal v Andy Murray 11/8
4/9 Roger Federer v Novak Djokovic 7/4
First up it’s Nadal versus Murray, with Nadal starting to look ominously efficient as far as his rivals were concerned. Slow out of the blocks v Roddick, he did a very solid job in beating Novak Djokovic and and an improving Tomas Berdych to come through his group with three wins out of three. It’s been more of a struggle for Murray, who didn’t function against Roger Federer and lost serve early before coming through against David Ferrer. On form, you would have to say Nadal has the current edge, though Murray is capable of using a slow court to his advantage. He wil need more than his usual defence to beat Nadal though.
Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic produced one of the matches of the year in the US Open semi-final, where the Serb came through despite Federer having match points. Since then though, Federer has beaten him in Shanghai, and more predictably, in his home town tournament in Basle. Djokovic struggled against Tomas Berdych, while there have been no real dramas for the Swiss in the group stages. Again, he looks likely to progress.
