Lots of parochial rivarly here of course, plus some decent players in the Welsh side makes for an interesting game. Wales, though, are missing Gareth Bale to stretch the game on the left, but they do have genuine pace in Craig Bellamy and defenders who do play in the Premier League in James and Neil Collins among others. Aaron Ramsey brings quality in midfield to go with the captaincy. Add that to a passionate crowd and the unsettled build up England have had, and there are potentially some elements for a surprise result.
England go into the game with Jack Wilshere ready to start and the question still open as to who plays up front with Wayne Rooney, with Andy Carroll on the bench. The whole question of how the English midfield will tick over with no Gerrard, and possibly no Lampard is interesting. Enough people have howled that the old guard, as such, should have all been swept away in tabloidese fury. The performance against Denmark was not ultimately that bad, with Darren Bent seeming to look more comfortable at international level. If England can grab midfield they can create enough chances to win, but this looks a decent test.
