11/8 Sizing Europe, 7/1 Kauto Stone 3/1 Wishfull Thinking 3/1 Gauvain 9/1 Cornas 16/1 I’msingingtheblues 16/1, Dan Breen 33/1 & Fix The Rib 66/1
Sizing Europe is the proven performer at this level and is a worthy favourite for the 2 mile showpiece. He outbattled his old foe Big Zeb at Cheltenham in The Champion Chase before having to settle for 2nd to him at Punchestown a few weeks later. He reappeared at Gowran Park and despite needing to blow away a few cobwebs won easily enough but was behind the highly thought of Quito De La Roque afterwards. He remains the one to beat and should be spot on for this after 2 runs so far this season.
With the field set at 8 runners and such a short priced favourite, punters will be looking around for some each way thievery. The Peter Hobbs trained Wishfull Thinking is dropped in trip after his Paddy Power effort behind Great Endeavour and Paul Nicholls, who was won the last 6 Tingle Creeks, relies on the promising Kauto Stone. Both are playing apprentice to the master but have the talent to make a race of it. At 3/1 though, better value lies elsewhere.
Gauvain won with his head in chest at Cheltenham in November and is a tempting price at around 9/1. However I’msingingtheblues appeared to benefit from being waited with last time, abandoning his usual front running tactics and is a juicy 16/1 for each way punters. With a fast pace assured, he can be played late and pick up any scraps at a nice price. He ran well enough last season under big weights and looks the one who can land a surprise.
