5/2 Overdose, 5/1 Kingsgate Native, 10/1 Markab, 11/1 Tangerine Trees, 12/1 Borderlescott, Sole Power
Overdose is an intiguing favourite, the “Budapest Bullet” has been beaten just once in 16 starts and that was when he stumbled coming out of the stalls in a defeat at Baden-Baden. It will be fun to see how he fares in Britain, but he deserves his favourite status. Kingsgate Native is seen as his nearest rival, but he hasn’t managed to register a victory since he won this race 12 months ago. At the age of 6 it might well be that he is not getting any better and should be watched with caution.
Markab is now 8 and has to give his rivals 7lb here after his Group 1 win in the Sprint Cup here in the Autumn. That might prove something of a bridge too far against this competitive field, while Tangerine Trees is stepping up in class having done well in handicaps and landed a Group 3 prize at Newmarket. This is his toughest test yet.
Sole Power was the surprise winner of the Nunthorpe Stakes and if he can recapture that form he looks great each way value in what should be a race with a madcap pace even for a sprint.
In an open looking ace, Sole Power is great each-way value at 12/1 with Betfred. Use our link to back him on this Betfred sponspored race and you can claim a free £50 bet!
