5/2 Stanislas Wawrinnka, 7/2 Nicolas Almagro, 9/2 Fernando Verdasco, 6/1 Feliciano Lopez, 13/2 Mikhail Youzhny, 12/1 Pablo Andujar, 16/1 Bar
This event has a good range of the ATP’s supporting cast, and as a 28-man tournament top seeds Nicolas Almagro, Stanislas Wawrinka, Mikhail Youzhny and Fernando Verdasco get a first round bye which is of considerable value. It looks as if second seed Wawrinka has been given the kinder draw, with his section containing qualifiers, wild cards and the not especially in from Marcel Granollers. Top seed Almagro excels at events like these usually, and should have time to recover from a hard week in Hamburg, reaching the final. He could however face Jarrko Nieminen, Feliciano Lopez, who is in form, and Fernando Verdasco in his potential route to the final.
Things could certainly be worse from Mikahil Youzhny, also a Hamburg semi-finalist last week. He will be eased in with a match with Martin Fischer or Denis Istomin, while Verdasco may struggle if coming up againt Almagro again. Pablo Andujar looks unlikely to test him. It’s very difficult to see anyone outside the top four seed taking this title on current form.
Mikhail Youzhny has an open looking quarter and demonstrated some good form in Hamburg. Back him at 13/2 with Stan James by using our link and we’ll give you a free £25 bet. You can also watch the Swiss Open via Stan James by opening an account.
