7/4 David Ferrer, 15/8 Robin Soderling, 9/2 Tomas Berdych, 11/2 Nicolas Almagro, 14/1 Tommy Robredo, 20/1 Juan Monaco, Potito Starace, 25/1 Bar
There’s a decent field assembled for this event, one of the smaller ones on the ATP Tour. With a field of just 28 it gives the top four seeds, Ferrer, Soderling, Berdych and Almagro an opening round bye – a significant help. Soderling is top seed and has a kind looking draw, but it might pay to be slightly wary as he comes back from injury after missing the Davis Cup. Potito Starace could be awkward in the last eight. Tomas Berdych is also struggling, so it might be that Juan Monaco can have a good run here. Though he hasn’t had a great year, he got back to form with two Davis Cup wins on clay.
David Ferrer and Nicolas Almagro are the two main contenders in the bottom half. Ferrer has a tricky looking quarter with Tommy Robredo and Pere Riba in wait, but Almagro really does an absolute lock for a semi-final place with a very weak quarter. It’s difficult to see anyone from outside the seeds here make a significant run to the final.
Nicolas Almagro has a good chance of victory, but Juan Monaco represents a great each-way bet at 20/1 with Stan James with questions over other players in the top half of the draw. Use our link to back him and you can claim a free £25 bet!
