SWANSEA v ASTON VILLA PREVIEW

Swansea’s home form has been the bedrock of their solid start to life in the Premier League. Their only loss at the Liberty Stadium so far was in their last game with Manchester United and that was encouraging enough, while their possession game ought to make it difficult for opposition teams to get enough ball in areas to hut them. Joe Allen is expected to be recalled after suffering with a calf problem. While scoring goals for them has been a problem – you wonder if Danny Graham is quite consistent enough for this level – keeping clean sheets has not.

Aston Villa are starting to slip into a Birmingham like pattern of dourness, and their safety first approach at Tottenham was rightly ripped to shreds. They will presumably offer the same for Swansea, and rely on pace or a set piece to get some kind of break away goal. So we are left with the basic conudrum of whether or not the Swans are cute enough to break them down. Villa are without a win now in six Premier League away games, and that, if anything, you sense will push them further into being happy with a draw. They have no major injury concerns.
