Sunderland continue to bewilder – they have liberal doses of red cards, seemingly only have one man who can score goals consistently, yet they hang around in the Premier League without undue concern. After their uninspiring opening game against Spurs, Manchester City have stepped things up a bit. They have had two efficient Europa League wins over Timisoira and a very comfortable looking home win against Liverpool to savour. It’s possible to have the suspicion they might revert to the defensive side we saw at Spurs away from home, but if they have title aspirations they do need to set themselves up to go to Sunderland and win.
