The Rockies are 5.5 games behind the Padres in the NL West, the Phillies having a six game deficit on the Braves in the NL East.
Rockies -150 OR +1.5 runs @ +105
Phillies +130 OR -1.5 runs @ -125
This is an interesting match up, with the Phillies the side on the up here, they are looking to make it three straight wins and six on the spin at home. They have also made a change in batting coach, with Greg Goss replacing Milt Thompson, a move that ought to prove effective. The Phillies are batting .316 since his arrival – so something has clicked.
On the mound for the Phillies is Kyle Kendrick (5-4, 4.82 ERA) who has a sudden elevation back to the majors. He was sent off to recover in triple A ball after, by his own admission, a poor performance last time where he lasted five innings against the Cards. He was due to be traded, but there were no takers. He needs to regain control – and quickly.
Not least because the Rockies bring in all-star Ubaldo Jimenez (15-1, 2.38 ERA). Jimenez though, has not sparkled recently as much as though excellent numbers would suggest. He has been drilled for 5 homers in his last seven starts. Jimenez insists he loves the fiery atmosphere that Phillies fans create.
The Rockies have lost their last three, but they have a good chance to snap that streak if Jimenez shows more of his all-star form and their hitting quickly gets after Kendrick, who is sure to be nervous. They remain 3rd ranked in the NL in batting average. We’ll take the Rockies with that 1.5 run start at +105 with BetUS.Com with confidence!
