Rangers picked up that point against Manchester United in their first match, while Bursaspor, the Turkish Champions, were heavily beaten by Valencia.

Rangers can suddenly see this group opening up for them, after their defensive but satisfying draw at Old Trafford. Manager Walter Smith has promised a more positive line up, but it was at home where Rangers suffered in the Champions League last season – they lost all three matches. Steven Davis has been passed fit, but Rangers are without attacking options James Beattie, John Fleck and Nikica Jelavic. Rangers though, still do have Kenny Miller and Kyle Lafferty as their main attacking options, while Maurice Edu could come into midfield.
As for Bursaspor, the Turkish champions, well they have ditched their traditional green kit to try and not wind up Rangers fans! They are doing well domestically again, top of the tale, and they insist their 4-0 defeat by Valencia was not indicative of their performance on the night. How strong Turkish football is difficult to judge, as Galatasaray and Fenerbahce both failed to make this year’s Champions League.
