OPEN GOLF ODDS – FINAL ROUND

12/5 Dustin Johnson, 11/4 Darren Clarke, 15/2 Rickie Fowler, 12/1 Thomas Bjorn, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Phil Mickelson, Martin Kaymer

OPEN GOLF PREVIEW FINAL ROUND

Darren Clarke (-5) is a stroke clear of the field, with commentators raving about the quality of his play from tee to green, where he wasn’t missing a fairway. Clarke was less convincing on the greens, and a lot might depend on the choice of pin positions. If they are put out to try and encourage birdies, then he may find it hard to hold on to his lead.

Dustin Johnson (-4), a shot behind, has yet to win a major put has put himself in contention plenty of times, most notbaly last year’s USPGA. Fellow American Rickie Fowler (-2)  has yet to win on tour, and his final day record makes him unlikely to break his duck here. Thomas Bjorn is also at two under, with Lucas Glover, the former US Open champion, and Miguel Angel Jimenez at one under. Six players, most notably Phil Mickelson and Martin Kaymer, are at even par, trying to come from 5 shots behind to win.

Both Mickelson and Kaymer are capable of producing special rounds and holing some long puts, so they see the most likely to emerge out of the pack.

OPEN GOLF FINAL ROUND TIP

Phil Mickelson can provide value for money. We’ll back him at 16/1 with Stan James, with the front runners a little too short a price.
