The Atlanta Falcons, the Carolina Panthers and yes, even the hapless Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be attempting to surprise the Saints.
The New Orleans Saints look to make it back to back Superbowls after their memorable triumph. It’s a task that’s increasingly difficult in this more equitable age. Their first task is to win the NFC South for the second year in a row, which is something that hasn’t been done. The good news is the core of the Saints successful team has stayed intact. Drew Brees had a stellar year, the rushing unit was solid without individual stars and the offensive line strong, while Lance Moore, if fit, should add extra receiving depth. The Saints are the team to beat in the NFC South and we’ll be backing them at -160 with BetUS.Com!
The Atlanta Falcons believe they are ready to challenge the Saints, and they think QB Matt Ryan will start putting in the numbers that his potential suggests. They are also relying on running back Michael Turner to start producing his 2008 performances, rather than what we saw from him last year. If the Falcons can get everyone going at full throttle they could push the Saints, but the defense look a little short.
The Carolina Panthers hope QB Matt Moore can run their offence well, with it’s strong running game. That’s not too much of a task. Everyone is really sweating on the future of coach John Fox, as he goes into the final season of his contract – and this might be disruptive. The Panthers do have strength in many areas, and could easily go above .500, but they are gambling on a young defense to come good. They can’t just rely on LB Jon Beason.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have boldly staked a lot on QB Josh Freeman, and their trading policy seems to have been about finding him good support. They have a good looking secondary and linebackers, if concerns about the defensive line and RB Cadillac Williams might, for once be fit. The Bucs might be less of a laughing stock, but they look a way from challenging either the Falcons or Saints.
In short the Saints will march on as divisional champions – back them with BetUS.Com and claim your bonuses just for depositing!
