Newcastle will be looking ahead to this game with added confidence after a fine draw at the daunting Old Trafford last week. They showed real guts and determination that day and at last seem to be a side flushed with team spirit and a positive attitude. The crowd too are joining in and should create a great atmosphere tomorrow.
Their real cut and thrust has come from Demba Ba who has netted 9 times in his last dozen appearances for The Magpies. Supported by that heroic defence and hard working midfield Newcastle will make Chelsea sweat for any reward and you have to wonder if the current Chelsea side are ready to fight tooth and nail for the points.
Chelsea have wobbled so far this season but they are a long way from a crisis and of course, have a host of talented players to choose from. Perhaps this is part of the problem with the strikers being rotated so much that little understanding seems to be there. Will Villa-Boas go with Drogba or will the impressive Sturridge start alongside Mata? It’s a hard call but it’s more about how they work together than the personnel, who are all individually superb players. It will be interesting to see how Chelsea react if they go behind, they have leaders on the pitch but on current form you have to think they are vulnerable to a buoyant Newcastle side away from home.
