With just a point required here England face that age old dilemma of whether to try and keep things tight, or to attack and play for the win. With England’s performances seemingly more effective away from home than at Wembley, it might well be that there is a positive feel to the team Fabio Capello selects, and it might even be that he plays with two out and out strikers. The main decisions are in defence, with Chris Smalling ruled out at right back. It could be that Phil Jones will partner John Terry after his encouraging performances early in his Manchester United career. Phil Jagielka seems the likely player at right back. With pace available, England have every chance of emerging from Podgorica with a victory.
There has been unexpected upheaval in the Montenegro camp after indifferent results against Bulgaria and Wales which have probably cost them any real chance of topping the group. Coach Zlatko Kranjcar has been unexpectedly dimissed but they do have threats in their forwards in Serie A pair Mirko Vucinic and Stevan Jovetic, so it would be foolish to assume they are lacking in punch up front. It’s a great position for a nation the size of Glasgow to be in and a play-off would be no disgrace, but they may just come up short here.
