8/13 Rory McIlory (-12), 9/1 K.J.Choi -(8), Angel Cabrera (-8), 12/1 Luke Donald (-7), 14/1 Jason Day (-8), Charl Schwartzel (-8), 18/1 Tiger Woods (-5), 20/1 Adam Scott (-7)
So far Rory McIlory has produced three incredibly consistent rounds of golf, with just one dropped shot in 54 holes of play. It’s been a level of consistency that none of his more experienced rivals have been able to match round Augusta. There have been no immediate signs of the pressure getting to him and there is every reason for the bookmakers to price him up as odds-on, despite his age of just 21. If he produces the kind of form seen so far, it’s very difficult to see anyone able to peg him back.
Scoring will undoubtedly be more difficult on the final day with the most testing pin positions brought into play to demand precise iron shots into the greens. If players don’t get the ball on the right spot on the green, putting will be difficult and shots can easily be shed. If McIlroy can shoot a 70 or 71 the likelihood is he will win.
We are big KJ Choi fans here and he looks good for a top 4 finish at least - but it’s difficut to see him quite being able to be aggressive enough to overturn a four shot deficit. Angel Cabrera looks the main danger to McIlroy. The 2009 champion moved into contention with a sparkling 67, and with a win here and 2 majors on his CV, he’s unlikely to get that choking feeling.
Being this close in a major though, is a new experience for Jason Day and Charl Schwartzel, and 5 shots may be too much for Luke Donald.
McIlroy may well come through, but Angel Cabrera at 8/1 with Betfred looks like it could be good value, especially if McIlroy shows any sign of nerves – use our link and you can claim a free £50 bet!
