Manchester City: 2/7
Swansea City: 10/1
Draw: 9/2
City’s defeat in the Community Shield was disheartening but this is the serious business. With Carlos Tevez not expected to play and Aguero struggling for fitness, this might be a game where the hitherto subdued Edin Dzeko has to fire up front. They have no real fitness or injury worries otherwise, allowing Roberto Mancini an impressive range of options. City did get into the groove at home when they got into the latter half of last season, winning 8 of their last 10 matches at Eastlands and they can ill afford to drop points against the promoted sides. City may fancy their chances if they can score early, but it might be awkward otherwise as Swansea will also try and keep possession.
Swansea look to have improved their side with the arrival of Dutch international keeper Michel Vorm, while Danny Graham and Leroy Lita are summer striker signings after they failed to keep hold of loanee Fabio Borini. Steven Caulker, who has done well in lower division loan spells away from Spurs is a defensive recruit, but it’s difficult to see their strikers troubling City unduly and they might struggle pace wise at the back. They have a decent shot at staying up, but you just can’t see them showing it here.
