A brief glance at the Liverpool v WBA Betting odds suggests a routine victory for Liverpool over their promoted opponents. But with Liverpool in transition and the Baggies of the mark, is it that simple?

West Bromwich Albion also have a new signing who could play in Marc-Antoine Fortune.
Liverpool: 1/4 with VC Bet, WBA: 16/1 with Totesport Draw: 5/1 with Stan James
Credit to Liverpool for their Thursday effort in Trabzonspor – they had every excuse to fold, but came through against the Turkish side without Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard. Both should be involved today, but Torres has yet to emerge from his curiously anaemic World Cup form. While you presume it must happen eventaually, a struggle for him should be factored in. Joe Cole remains suspended, while Daniel Agger’s concussion is a concern. Do Liverpool have what it takes to be at least flat track bullies? Raul Meireles, the Portugese midfielder should join them shortly, with a fee agreed with Porto. He might even be at Anfield.
WBA are much more cheery than after their battering by Chelsea on Day One. They beat Sunderland and followed that up with a Carling Cup win at Leyton Orient. New striker Peter Odemwingie was quickly off the mark, and the return of Fortune adds muscle, if not goals, up front. Marek Cech is ruled out in defence though. If the Baggies believe they can do it, West Bromwich Albon can make Liverpool sweat.
Sportnewsbase.com verdict: a laboured 1-0 Liverpool win is attractive at 7/1 with VC Bet – our money is down.
