Confidence is high in Liverpool at the moment as they continue putting together a tidy unbeaten run ahead of this encounter. Steven Gerrard and Andy Carroll are both likely to miss this game, but there will be some extra strength with Martin Kelly and Martin Skrtel added to the squad. Luis Suarez, frustratingly, is not eligible. The first leg was a goal-less draw, which looked reasonably comfortable for the Reds, despite one or two late dramas for Pepe Reina, and while it would be a concern for Liverpool not to have the away goal, they look more than capable of dictating the tempo of play and having the majority of possession. Without their big name strikers though, it is up to one of the lesser lights to put away the chances that should be created.
Sparta’s Tomas Repka had fun at the back, but they didn’t look a side with a real cutting edge in that first leg, and Liverpool seem destined to go through here.
