Saturday’s comprehensive win against Wolves has given everyone involved with Liverpool considerable encouragement. They now have Steven Gerrard back to add to the side. But one swallow etc. However, the clean sheet and a general lifting of malaise should not be underestimated. Jamie Carragher sits this one out. With glimpses of form from Fernando Torres, it might yet be that Liverpool can conjure a degree of adequacy from their season, although not to the levels their supporters will demand.
Fulham, though, have three wins in their last five matches after that flurry of draws in the early part of the season. That even included a victory on the road – virtually unheard of – at Stoke just after Christmas. Dickson Etuhu and Aaron Hughes are injury concerns, which might mean a first start for the under rated Steve Sidwell. We’ll see how Fulham come and play – if they try and be positive or look to contain. The latter might be fatal.
