There’s a full League Two programme this weekend with Torquay United setting the early pace in the League Two betting and table.

The big game of the weekend is arguably Port Vale v Torquay. Micky Adams side were quietly fancied to do well this season after missing out on the play-offs, while Torquay have translated their end of season form from last year on to this year. Their defence simply can’t be breached. Adams’ Vale got whacked at Fulham in the Carling Cup, but they are a good side at this level. This is a difficult one to call and if we were going for any bet, it would be the draw (trading at 3.4 or 24/10 on Betfair)
The two best bets of the weekend see sides en route to Greater Manchester. John Sheridan’s Chesterfield go to Macclesfield, while Shrewsbury Town visit Stockport County. Chesterfield, boosted by their new stadium, should compete well at this level this season, with Jack Lester fit and Craig Davies back from suspension. Macc are missing two important players in Ricky Sappleton and goal scoring midfielder Richard Butcher. Back the Spireites at 2.32 (11/8) on Betfair!
The other match that should see content away fans is Shrewsbury at Stockport. County are still trying to get themselves going afte a traumatic summer. They are a young side, not without ability, but they have fragile confidence. The Shrews look in for a good season under Graham Turner and have important target man Matt Harrold back available. They should have too much nous for County. Shrewsbury are 2.42 (7/5 on Betfair) and should be backed with confidence!
