Workforce goes into this in decent shape, after his narrow Eclipse Stakes defeat over 10 furlongs to So You Think, and the Arc and Derby winner ought to be a little happier over the 12 furlong distance. The one thing that does spring to mind is his performance here last year, where he was well beaten behind the outstanding Harbinger – what a rivalry that might have proved to be. St.Nicholas Abey seems to be drifting in the market at time of writing – he came through to win the Coronation Cup on his last start despite not getting the easiest of runs. The booking of jockey Joseph O’Brien is a surprise, and that might be what is putting punters off.
Rewilding holds a win over So You Think at Royal Ascot over the mile and a half distance, which immediately means he commands respect, with both finishing well clear of their rivals. However, he was well beaten by Workforce in last year’s derby – a circle of form which doesn’t square. It’s Nathaniel who represents the three year olds, but he looks a little behind the main contenders, while Debussy is on pace making duty.
