11/8 Musawama, 2/1 Borug, 4/1 Weapon of Choice, 10/1 Slumber, 16/1 Planet Waves
Just five runers for this Derby Trial – and the only horse that holds a Derby entry is the favourite Musawama. He’s already had a couple of outings this season on the all-weather, winning his maiden and then a three runner race at Kempton – he looks worth taking on here.
Borug from the Saeed bin Suroor stable should also be fit after two runs at Meyran, where he managed to produce a third. Weapon of Choice has won his maiden and he looked like he may have a little bit of quality about him – he should also appreciate the step up in distance compared to his two year old runs.
Slumber had just the one run as a two-year-old, finishing well down the field at Newbury, and Clive Brittain’s Planet Waves was a hard working horse last season, with 1 win in 11 starts, but again nothing of real quality.
Musawama is a logical favourite, but we think Weapon of Choice @ 4/1 with Betfred is good value in a poor looking field, as he has real scope to improve. Use our link to back him and claim a free £50 bet!
