HUDDERSFIELD v BOURNEMOUTH PREVIEW

This was one of the more entertaining first legs in the play-offs so far, and there is the odd sliver of evidence it’s not quite as cut and tried as the league table would suggest. Huddersfield are likely to switch things around a little from the first leg, as they bring in striker Jordan Rhodes, their top scorer and switch formations to 4-4-2. They do have injury concerns over full-back Lee Peltier, but Jack Hunt is a decent enough replacement. They do also have dangerous players in Danny Ward and Gary Roberts who can also striker from midfield. The amazing record they have of not losing in 25 league matches, plus the first leg, indicates the ability they have, but also the huge weight of expectation with a 20 thousand crowd expected.

Bournemouth look like they will try and play on that by keeping it fairly tight for the first 25 minutes or so, to try and add to the tension of the crowd. They have less experience but under-rated players who have often come from unfashionable clubs. They have energy and an encouraging lack of nerves. However, they have shown some recent vulnerability when it comes to free-kicks and corners – that was how they conceded their goal in the first leg, and it could prove crucial in the final analysis. There are no injury worries for the Cherries.
