4/5 Hampshire v Durham Evens
The Pro 40 is a strange beast. Part of it seems a curious compromise between 20/20 cricket and the 50 over game. Hampshire have had a dismal record in this yar’s competition in the Pro 40 while doing well in the shortest form of the game. They have a decent squad, with Michael Carberry and Imran Tahir both set to play, and they are capable of decent feats with the bat and ball, but they do perhaps look a little light on the batting front, which would explain their struggles in the competition so far. Dimitri Mascarenhas could add some useful extra strength on both fronts. If at his fittest, he could make a significant difference.
Durham are in third place in this Pro 40 Group and remain in contention to complete domestic treble. They have named a strong looking squad for this match, with Michael Di Venuto, Phil Mustard, Paul Collingwood and Graham Onions all part of it. Add in Liam Plunkett and one day biffer Ian Blackwell and they look a potentially formidable outfit for the one day game. Given their placing in the competition they look the value here even though they are away.
