7/4 Taylors Sky, 5/2 Barefoot Bullet, 3/1 Razldazl George, 8/1 Westmead Guru, 12/1 Cloheena Cash, 16/1 Bright Redcliffe
Favourite Taylors Sky, trained by Charlie Lister, has looked an exciting prospect, even though he’s likely raced. He holds the course track record and was impressive in his semi-final. However, he has history against him. No dog has ever won the derby from trap 1 since the race was moved to Wimledon in the 1980′s from its former home at White City. If you believe that’s coincidence, he looks great value.
His nearest rival Barefoot Bullet, from Ireland, does hold a win over Taylors Sky in the qualifying rounds. He has good speed and experience of reaching the quarter finals 12 months ago to help him here. Razldazl George has been admirably consistent and tough, but whether or not he has quite the quality of the main two contenders is open to question. Of the outsiders, Westmead Guru has a shot as he is very game when leading and has done very well in the build up to this competition, Cloheena Cash represents Wimbledon trainer Norah McEllstrim, and has made an amazing transition from graded races. Like Barefoot Bullet, he made the quarter finals a year ago. Finally, Bright Redcliffe, trained by a Staffordshire window cleaner, has come through to take his place among the elite.
Favourite Taylors Sky has the class to end the Trap 1 hoodoo and should be backed at 7/4 with Betfred. Our best outsider is Westmead Guru at 8/1 with Betfred – can chase him home. Use our links and you can claim a free bet of up to £50.
