Published on June 30, 2010 by   ·   No Comments

SportNewsBase.Com is committed to covering the Football League.

We’ll have an off-season round up of all the moves and transfers every day, as managers and players return from their holidays to pre-season and the deals get done.

Stick with us for the wheeling and dealing done by all 72 clubs! All players who sign will appear in the division of the club they have joined.

CHAMPIONSHIP NEWS

Barnsley have signed increasingly nomadic striker Liam Dickinson, who’d never really settled in at Brighton under Gus Poyet, having been brought to the club by Russell Slade. Dickinson (pictured), ended up at Peterborough United on loan last season, under his old manager Jim Gannon.  Dickinson is known to be a little wild, but not without ability. Crystal Palace have spent their day trimming the wage bill. Palace are bidding farewell to three defenders – Matt Lawrence, Clint Hill and Danny Butterfield are now free agents looking for work. Barnsley and Crystal Palace are both rated at 50/1 to win the division by Victor Chandler. Swansea City have kept it Welsh by signing Wrexham full back Neil Taylor. A tribunal will determine the fee.

LEAGUE ONE NEWS

Left backs are the order of the day, with Swindon Town confirming the arrival of Michael Rose, who Stockport allowed to leave. Rose likes to shoot from long range and replaces loanee Alan Sheehan. Brentford have signed ex-Bristol City man Craig Woodman from Wycombe Wanderers, as they quietly assemable a useful looking squad. At 25/1 they are starting to look like value. Bristol Rovers believe they have ladned something of a coup in bringing in Gary Saywer from Plymouth, while Yeovil Town have given former loanee defender Luke Ayling a one year deal. Walsall have taken on big goalkeeper Jon Brain from Macclesfield after the retirment of Clayton Ince – and you can always rely on Huddersfield Town for off-season activity. The former Manchester City winger Lee Croft is going to join them on loan from Derby County.

LEAGUE TWO NEWS

Two new faces for Wycombe Wanderers, one familiar to manager Gary Waddock. That’s ex-Aldershot left back Andy Sandell, who turned down a deal to stay at The Rec. The other is formerYeovil midfielder Kieran Murtagh. Bradford City have paid Mansfield £25,000 for striker Jake Speight. He scored 17 goals in the Conference and City finished the season short on firepower bar James Hanson. Northampton Town will also sign a forward, Tadhg Purcell, who did so well for Darlington in the second half of last season. Oxford United have made utility defender Jake Wright a permanent fixture after his loan spell last season from Brighton. On a worrying note, Southend United have revealed they have another court date with the taxman coming up on July 8th, but Chairman Ron Martin has insisted the money required will be paid.
