8/11 England v Sri Lanka 11/10
This has the potential to be good fun in Bristol as a one off match on a ground with relatively tight boundaries and some big hitters. It’s the first match in charge for England captain Stuart Broad, and it will be an interesting test as to how he manages the side in this most fast moving of games. England have brought back in Craig Kieswetter as an attacking wicketkeeper batsman, while the arrival of Samit Patel should be a boost both for his attacking batting and useful bowling. It looks a nicely balanced side.
Sri Lanka have made a big call by bringing back the venerable Sanath Jayasuriya. He’s 42 and is a controversial selection for political reasons as well as sporting ones. He could be destructive in this form of the game still. Perhaps more significant is the return of Lastith Malinga, better known as “The Slinger”. His style of bowling is always difficult to get away and can rip through middle orders. Tillakeratne Dilshan also has a chance of being involved. The revisions to their squad look slighly more potent than the changes England have made, despite the poor performances in the test series.
