ENGLAND v SRI LANKA PREVIEW

Sri Lanka lead this series by two matches to one, with all three games decided by clear margins. England took the first and have lost the next two. Questions have been raised about Alistair Cook’s decisions over the toss, the speed of Jonathan Trott’s innings and also the form of Stuart Broad, a ticking timebomb. It does seem as if the side needs some changes or freshening up against well drilled opponents, with concerns about whether or not they can accumulate runs quickly enough to set up a decent total to defend.

In contrast Sri Lanka seem a steady unit with a game plan, batsman who can pace a one day innings and bowlers like Laseeth Malinga who can be a genuine threat with the ball. They also have the more desctructive hitters and Dinesh Chandimal appears to be a player with real promise. At the moment Sri Lanka look to have the confidence and players to take the grip of this game and the series. As this is a day night match though, winning the toss could well have a significant impact.
