CRYSTAL PALACE v BIRMINGHAM CITY PREVIEW

Both of these sides have impressed at times this season, but as can be the way of the Championship they have also suffered dips in form. Palace ended a run of seven matches without a win in their last game, where Glenn Murray’s goal was enough to win at Nottingham Forest. All welcome, but difficult to read too much into given the poor form of Steve Cotterill’s side. At their best Palace do have creativity, but they have lost one of their home grown talents in the suspended Wilfred Zaha. Dougie Fredman’s side have done well at home though – and they’ve not lost at Selhurst since September, where Middlesbrough were victorious.

Birmingham’s league position remains false with their games in hand, but they haven’t been the most consistent recently. Now their Europa League fun and games are over, this may be the point where Championship form moves up a gear. Jordon Mutch is available for the Blues, who have lost their last three away matches. Even with that massive exodus over the summer they have a decent squad, and they might just score in having a more physical presence.
