It’s not long since the last Old Firm game, where Celtic’s 3-0 win over Rangers was one of the more convincing scorelines in the Old Firm game in recent times. Since then though, Celtic have suffered a surprise defeat by Motherwell which has re-opened the SPL title race, where as Rangers made progress in the Europa League and thumped St.Johnstone.
Celtic are missing keeper Fraser Forster and the talented Joe Ledley. Lukasz Zaluska will take over in goal, while Beram Kayal is also in contention. They also must decide whether or not to keep faith with Anthony Stokes, who did little in that defeat at Fir Park. Celtic controlled the last match convincingly, and seemed to have energy levels that Rangers couldn’t find.
The Gers can restore David Weir, who was given a weekend break and assistant Ally McCoist says the 3-0 loss had made them re-assess themselves to positive effect. Vladimir Weiss and Steven Naismith aren’t expected to feature. Rangers must look to get the ball down and play more effectively than they did at Celtic Park, which is never easy to do in the frenzied atmosphere around these games. They can’t afford to have any Old Firm fatigue.
With Rangers likely to set up a little more defensively, a draw at 90 minutes seems good value at 12/5 with Betfred – use our link to back the draw and you can claim a free £50 bet from Betfred!
