BMW INTERNATIONAL OPEN PREVIEW

Martin Kaymer, the current USPGA Champion, has been made favourite for this tournament on home turf, despite an indifferent US Open, where he was never really in contention for a top 10 finish, let alone coming within range of Rory McIlroy. He did however, take down this event in 2008 on this course, which has been used regularly for this event, so past form here does count for something. Dustin Johnson is second favourite, and he put in a resectable US Open performance, finishing at +1, but it is always difficult to travel so quickly and adjust. He is a long hitter which suits the course but he may find it hard to win.

Of the others among the favourites Sergio Garcia is seen as a contender after his top 10 US Open finish. He simply didn’t go out and practice before the event, and we can’t believe that this ongoing strategy can play long term dividends. Matteo Manassero is always a short price for someone of his relative inexperience in what looks a strong field, while Francesco Molinari could also go close.

David Horsey and Ross Fisher are both in the field after finishing first and second last year and both players command respec on that achievement and other pits and pieces of form in 2011. Fisher is also fresh after not making the US Open.

BMW INTERNATIONAL OPEN TIP

David Horsey looks good value for a high placed finish here again and should be backed at 35/1 with Betfred – use our link and you can claim a free £50 bet, plus Betfred pay out each way on the top five finishers.
