5/1 Baby Run, 11/2 Balthazar King, 7/1 Aimigayle, 8/1 Meanus Dandy, 10/1 Poker de Sivola, Triggerman, Gentle Ranger
This race doesn’t have quite the quality that is used to once upon a time, but it’s a decent long distance handicap to send the season out with some sort of flourish. Baby Run is favourite for the race after three wins in four starts this season for Nigel Twiston-Davies and this time it’s son Willie who rides. Baby Run’s last victory was over the Grand National fences in the Foxhunters Chase, though the trainer does admit he’d like softer ground.
Balthazar King is a horse that should appreciate the fast surface, is improving and is trained by Philip Hobbs, who haves a good record in the race, while Aimigayle fits the profile of past winners and is another who should like a fast surface. Meanus Dandy is the mount of Ruby Walsh and though he didn’t impress last time Sandown should suit, while Poker de Sivola is difficult to fancy after an indifferent run in the Scottish Grand National, not looking happy and tipping up early.
Gentle Ranger has some each way claims on the ground, though he will have to improve on his last run in the Midlands National if he is to win here.
We like Aimigayle to win here at 7/1 with Betfred, she’s lightly raced. might be ahead of the handicapper and likes the conditions. Use the link and you can claim a free £50 bet with Betfred.
