As ever, the build up seems to have focused around Jose Mourinho despite the impressive range of global talents on show but after a slow start for both sides as perhaps slightly jaundiced World Cup players took time to show their their form, this duo are unbeaten since October.
Mourinho has been busy talking up his part in affairs, saying:
“It was nice going back to Barca with Chelsea and Inter but going with Real will be even sweeter, I beat Barcelona with Chelsea and Inter Milan and now I am in charge of their biggest rival in Real Madrid so all this combined means I will get a hostile reception.”
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have both warmed up with hat-tricks in their previous matches and while it’s impossible to see Barcelona doing anything other than play their way, you would fancy Mourinho would have some form of tactical plan to try and bottle up their creativity as effectively as he did for the Champions League semi-final with Inter Milan.
