This should be a compelling contest between two sides have been jostling with each other at the top of the world game. Australia though, and captain Ricky Ponting are under pressure. They lost their 34 match unbeaten run in the tournament when they were beaten by Pakistan, who did at least follow that up with their win over the West Indies. The batting is the concern though, where neither Ponting, nor Cameron White have been among the runs. The Aussies will be looking to get their pace attack working on the flat surface, with Shaun Tait and Brett Lee looking for quick wickets. If those don’t arrive then it might be a problem to pick up wickets with their second string.
India have home advantage but they do have serious injury worries over one of their key batsmen Virender Sehwag, who has problems with a knee infection. While India do have a powerful looking batting line up, they have been prone to one or two collapses in recent matches, while they are waiting for Sachin Tendulkar to rack up his 100th one day century in this match.
