Ashley Young is likely to miss this one for Villa thanks to a combination of knee and ankle injuries and the whispers continue to be that all is not well, despite their win over West Bromwich Albion. We might know as much about their hopes for the second half of the season by who arrives and departs in the transfer window. Villa may be three points above the drop zone, but they have been hard to beat at Villa Park so far, losing just once in 9 games.
Spurs won the reverse game in October and generally have a good record against Villa. They also have Jermaine Jenas, Younes Kaboul and Rafael van der Vaart expected to return which adds depth to the squad. They remain, it seems, not quite consistent enough to mount a title challenge and must pick up points in numbers before the Champions League resumes.
