As is the way these days, everything Arsenal do must be questioned, and nothing Liverpool do can be. Arsenal are wasting money buying young talent – Liverpool are investing boldly. Anyway, enough of such media myopia. The facts are that injuries and suspension have put a severe dent in Arsene Wenger’s resources. Gervinho and Alex Song, begin three-match bans. Kieran Gibbs, Johan Djourou, Tomas Rosicky, Jack Wilshere, Abou Diaby and Armand Traore are all ruled out through injury. That is enough of a list to cause concern to any manager. They are in a good position up front though, with Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott both capable of stretching a creaky Liverpool back line. The midfield may be an area where for once though, they struggle to get possession.
Liverpool’s spending has given them more options and they may have Glen Johnson back fit but no Steven Gerrard. While they impressed in the first half of their match with Sunderland, they were more slothful in the second. Andy Carroll though, has enjoyed playing against the Gunners in the past. Liverpool have a terrible record at Arsenal, either at Highbury or the Emirates, having not beaten them away since 2000. Both sides look slightly frail at the back, so goals seem more than likely.
