The surprise first leg win for Ipswich has added interest to this tie as they try and hang on to their lead and make their way to Wembley. Even with that goal deficit to recover, Arsenal are expected to indulge in some squad rotation as they eye up that first trophy in five years. Robin Van Persie, who gave Wigan such a hard time, is likely to be rested. They still will expect to control possession, probe and probe, and try and gradually slice Ipswich to death. They may have to deal with a physical Ipswich side, who had an excellent game plan for the first leg.
Ipswich will be without Lee Martin, and manager Paul Jewell is giving out the right messages, in that he wants his side to do more and just try and hang on. He’s calling on them to be cool in possession and try and give themselves a breather now and then from chasing shadows. Ipswich worked hard to beat Doncaster at the weekend, another side who really try and keep the ball on the ground. They’ll be looking for the much touted Connor Wickham to rise to the occasion.
