AFC WIMBLEDON v BRISTOL ROVERS PREVIEW

Two contrasts here meeting, with upwardly mobile Wimbledon keeping loyal, largely, to the team that won promotion out of the Conference, compared to Bristol Rovers having a complete clear out following relegation into League Two. The Dons have the possible advantage of having played a competitive match, in their Carling Cup defeat by Crawley. They looked quite speedy but a little lacking in physical punch, though they will have the benefit of a passionate, sell out crowd for this opening league fixture. The signs are though, that they will miss striker Danny Kedwell up front, who has moved to Gillingham.

Rovers have a new manager in Paul Buckle and a much revamped playing staff, with some very useful looking signings for League Two. Adam Virgo and Matt Harrold provide size and experience at the back and up front, Jo Kuffour can provide goals, and Matt Gill and Chris Lines look a useful central midfield partnership for this level. As our tips for promotion, we expect the Gas to hit the ground running here.
